Adults' Mandarin Courses
"In an increasingly competitive job market, it is clear that foreign language
proficiency adds significant value to a candidate's portfolio of skills and can give them a real competitive edge when applying
for jobs." - the CBI's Education and Skills Survey 2009, Evening Standard 9 July 2009

Mandarin or pǔ tōng huà (普通话) is a family of related
languages spoken across most of northern and southwestern Mainland China. The Mandarin dialect spoken in Beijing functions
as the official spoken language of the People's Republic of China, the official language of Taiwan, and one of the
official languages of Singapore. Obviously, there are some
slight deviations between the Mandarin variants spoken in Beijing, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong SAR. These include deviations
in grammar, vocabulary, stylistic aspects, and loan words. For example, there is a 23% discrepancy in standard pronunciation
between the 3,500 most commonly used characters in the 'Xinhua zidian' (Xin Hua Dictionary) of China. In EMUK, we provides customized curriculums in the Mandarin courses teaching simplified
characters. Our weekend and weekday evening courses are open
to the public during term time.
